esplanade

portland is divided into half by the willamette river, and the middle bridge across this river (burnside) divides portland into four quadrants... we live in the southeast quadrant... which is a good place to live for vegans!  downton is in the southwest.. and the other two sides don't matter much to me haha.... both sides of the river have a bike path/walkway, the last two days we have gone along the east side of the river.... it's quite stunning, you see all the buildings framed by bridges, water and sky... it's quite a relaxing ride, except this one part of the path which is floating just above the water...... that's kind of freaky... either way, it's good to be back riding on bike paths, i had missed that!

Random Portland Fact #4:  Portland has the longest floating pathway in the US.  (This is the freaky part that I was talking about above)

  1. I really like the esplanade. Smoooooth pavement for the most part, feels like the bike is gliding!!! And I am not even sure what a "floating pathway" is. A bridge? Or that part that we are over the water to either side? If it is the latter, it didn't even occur to me that could be freaky...
