yes men

These people are awesome!  This might be a bit premature since I've only seen a documentary made by them called The Yes Men Fix the World, but I totally support their actions in that documentary.  These guys go around pulling hoaxes with social commentaries and to humiliate corporations.  Does that even make sense?  For example, there is this company which reactor screwed up and many people from India were killed and people there are still affected.  This was more than 20 years ago and next to nothing has been made to fix this.  DOW owes this company.  Well these guys set up fake websites of DOW and wait until they get called to do a talk/conference in the name of DOW.  Then when they got called by the BBC to do an interview, they said that DOW was going to pay for all the damages done and pay for the health services of all the people affected.  The DOW people were obviously mad... they now had to justify why they haven't done anything about this, and their shares were affected by all the greedy people that sold their DOW stock when they heard that DOW was going to be repaying these people.  The people in India, although they were given false hope for an hour or so, were grateful for at least bringing attention to their struggle with this.  It didn't solve anything, but at least it brought attention to this situation, which is always the first step to improving it.

Check out this fake New York Times special edition that they made with a bunch of people about the headlines that we WOULD want to see.  They handed this out to 100,000 New Yorkers for free.  Just to give a glimpse into what could happen if everyone worked for it.

They are freaking awesome.

  2. The articles in the NYTimes are cool, they represent nothing less than what people want for their country, how they want it.

  3. They were inspiring. It always makes me feel like I am not creative enough, and that I am doing too little, which I am...
