working

So, apparently having a release and then three patches for that release in a little over a week gets in the way of blogging. .. and oh joy, there's a release scheduled for next week. .. I know we are an 'agile' team but it's gotten a bit ridiculous. .. anyway, that's my excuse. ...so all I've done is work a lot. ..i did get to see Eddie pepitone perform his comedy, it was hilarious. .. i also spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for waterproof shoes that I can bike in but look ok for work and that I don't hate. ... apparently there's zero percent of those so...i bought the ones that we the most functional and I didn't hate that much, some hiking shoes that are waterproof but look like normal tennis shoes, all black except some purple details. .. don't even get me started on colors for women shoes or the nonexistent small sizes in men shoes UGH... alright I better stop writing before I get into it. .... the picture that I attached had nothing to do with what I just wrote, oh well. ... haha

bike valet

Yesterday, we went to check out modest mouse at the Pabst fest.  They were great!  It sucks being short at concerts though :/ people in portland are pretty chill in concerts and people don't squish you. ..I guess people here believe in personal space, which is great for the enjoyment of the concert. .. not so great for short people trying to get a view from the back. .. you have to stand way back. ... thankfully the crowd thinned as the concert went on and we we able to get closer. .. modest mouse is definitely in my top 5 right now :) good thing for me that they live here in portland!  Another portlandy thing that happened at that fest (besides being a beer fest, having to pass a hemp fest on the way and so forth) is that they offered free bike valet parking! How awesome! It was secure and efficient! Loved it! Many people biked! :)

work

and work.  Today is release day, so that means chaos and extra work.  Usually, my job is pretty chill...I go in at 7:15-7:30 and get out at 3:30.  That's right, 3:30, I love that.  Sure it's chaos in between (we're an 'agile' team) those hours but I almost always get out on time.  But on release days in which I am part of (people take turns)...it's crazy.  Today, I worked until 6 with just a break of 20 minutes to bike home (I can work from home) and now (at 9:30pm) I am technically working (they are deploying)...and usually releases only take around an hour to check out.  But today's...developers were still making changes at 4pm.....of release day... not cool.  QA actually wants to test code before releasing! As you should!  Especially because today is a big release with many features added/changed that affects many third parties... We will see, but I think this will be a long one..... tomorrow, I will be sleepy! but it's friday!! so I can't complain! well I can, but I won't! :)

Update:  it's 12:20am and they are barely gonna deploy...my manager has instructed me to go to sleep cause, I quote, 'I want someone with braincells in the office tomorrow'....haha sleep deprived people are funny...

c&c cage

Did you that stands for cube and corrugated plastic cage? Well I didn't. .a week ago. Actually a week ago, I didn't know we were gonna rehome some Guinea pigs and somehow I would end up making their play pen. Sure, the cage they had was by all means inhumane. ... but I'm suppose to be the animal hater (I know it doesn't go with being vegan but just cause I don't like them around, doesn't mean I don't respect their lives)... anyway, that's what I did yesterday after work. .. now the piggies have a house that's 72 in by 42 in, so 21 squared feet,  not bad, compared to the mere, not quite 3 squared feet they had been living for at least the last 6 months. .. poor dudes.  One drawback to this is that I won't get to observe them since the pen is in Sophie's room and they get the most active around her bedtime. ..

Sometimes when I go home with unfinished problems, I come up with solutions at home and carry them in my phone gallery haha This is one I wrote yesterday. .. don't try to use logic, it's convoluted by design because that's the nature of Scala written gatling scripts, very efficient for Web services calls and performance scenarios of these calls, but super convoluted for anything else... I also added a screenshot of the implemented code Haha

This is not a philosophical post. ... we are just playing the board game while listening to modest mouse. .. prepping for the modest mouse concert in a week! hopefully it's as awesome as last time! Even though this time it will be in a fest setting. ... the only good music fests I have gone are both gigantours...  anyway, i hadn't played life in a while, it's so unrealistic Haha but pretty fun :)
