well, as you all know we bought a house... it's
going to take a lot of work to get it how we want (we have very non 80s
tastes...the current theme of the house....)... also, it was rented, so
the garden and deck have been a bit neglected, so we want to fix that...
also, the house has like 3 additions and they were all done fast and
cheap.... and it shows... so we are taking our sweet time to fix it
since, surprise, most house related things are freaking expensive... and
our first priority is to pay off the house... the first weekend we
moved all our belongings, cleaned and bought some supplies.. this
weekend (besides having fun at a animal sanctuary vegan bbq) we started
fixing up the house... first off, we noticed a leak inside the fridge..
instead of calling a technician, i looked it up online and found some
rough guidelines on how to fix the problem... i have no invested
feelings over that fridge so it wasn't hard to decide to open it up...
we opened it up and were puzzled as to what was what... we cleaned out
the ice but we were still confused about the nature of the leak... so i
went online and looked up the manual of the model and based on some
diagrams, i was able to determine that what we thought was a drain was
actually a vent... and with that information, i set out to look for the
drain... it was so clogged with ice, we hadnt noticed it... after
pouring some hot water on it, we finally heard what we had been waiting
for some water going into the condensation tray below the fridge
(instead of the inside of the fridge...)... major victory hahah we also
prepped the walls for sophie's room to paint it...let me tell you
guys... unless you hate the people that are going to paint your walls...
do not, DO NOT put tape over holes and pretend they are not there....
and also staples? why? no! so after sanding, fixing holes and more
sanding, we taped up a wall and are 1/4 done with that room.... its a
large room!!! anyway, at least we started! so far, im really digging the
experience of having a house vs living in an apt... :)
Yeah, it was lots of fun, but lots of work. I can't wait to be done. Proud of us fixing the freezer ourselves! :D
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like fun!!! good call on the fridge!!
ReplyDeleteIt feels awesome when you are able to fix something on your own, specially if it isn't something you know how to do, and you save a lot of money, lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I agree, things are freaking expensive, that's why I decided to not buy some things that I don't really need.
you get to be louuud!
