staying active

so when you have a chair job and 3-4 hours of commute, sleep, eating, getting ready, a kid, a partner....yeah, that means zero energy to do anything active with the minutes you have free per day....but im trying to stay active because i feel better that way....

starting today, i ditched the bus to downtown and now ride my bike downtown, store it in a locker, and go on my commute (you can take bikes on the metro but seriously too many people take bikes already.....)...thats approximately 8 miles roundtrip of biking, not a lot but it works....i also do things like always take stairs (i work in the third floor and the bike locker is in the third floor of a parking complex), i work standing up at least 30 min per day (im trying to get use to it....this will increase, hopefully)....i often stand up the whole metro ride (but sometimes you cant cause it feels weird to stand up if it's almost empty....and it always gets full afterwards....if it gets too full, standing up is a torture cause you have people all over your face...it's a gamble)....and well the weekends, we tend to walk/bike a fair amount!

yeah, thats me trying to stay active....no fancy stuff!

  1. Yeah, standing on a metro full of people sucks, more when you are carrying something big, but I never have people all over my face, one of the perks of being taller :P

  2. That's nice! I wouldn't be able to stand while the metro is mostly empty either.
