After, we went to cook for food not bombs (fnb), it was pretty fun, those people are pretty cool and funny. Then we went to distribute the food at the migrant workers building, you could see people sleeping on the sidewalks and all.... We brought out a fold-able table and put the 4 different food pots in a row and worked in an assembly line type of deal. The people were definitely grateful. We still had some leftover food after feeding everyone there, so we went to a shelter. In the shelter, it was just a building with a bunch of sleeping bags arranged on the floor and people there. We did the assembly line work again. The people actually clapped as we walked out. And then we delivered the leftover bread to another shelter nearby.
Let's just say, I am definitely making food not bombs a part of my routine. It doesn't take much effort or time, but even if it did, it makes such an immediate and significant impact on so many people that I don't see how I could justify not helping. Hopefully I will also be able to help fnb with feeding occupy el paso.
After fnb, we went to kevin and katherine's place and played apples to apples. Fun :)
This was actually last Sunday, not today, but it is still pretty representative of our time at k&k's house :) |
Yeah, I really liked food not bombs. Regardless of what happens with the Occupy movement, I want to continue with food not bombs.
